As Debbie Wanner speaks about her exit from Survivor Game Changers close to ten months prior, she insists she knew who was going to flip ahead of time.

This post will discuss spoilers for events that occurred in Survivor Game Changers episode 10, “A Line Drawn in Concrete.”

Wanting to get to know Debbie Wanner is a double-edged sword. On one hand, she’s a fairly interesting person that demonstrates a wise mind and an honest soul in any interview of hers that one can enjoy. On the other hand, it’s at the expense of playing Survivor Game Changers or Survivor Kaoh Rong, where she has definitely demonstrated an imbalanced, wacky, sometimes grating approach to the game.

Ten months removed from playing her most recent season, Debbie Wanner sat down with multiple outlets to discuss her exit from Survivor Game Changers, offering up a different perspective that we may not have seen onscreen. Interestingly enough, even though she admits to being angry with him at times, she told Entertainment Weekly that she intentionally hammed up her (edited) meltdown to obscure her partnership with Brad Culpepper.

"Brad and I were actually very close. He knew that I never wanted anybody to ever think that we were that close. People were constantly targeting Brad, Brad, Brad. And if they thought that I was under his wing, they weren’t going to come and tell me that it was Brad. So I did go over the top. There were times where I was genuinely miffed at him, but I must say that was overacting to the hilt, and even I was surprised at the energy I brought to my exuberance of being angry. But he was never on the outs with me, ever."

The “jokes on you, I was merely pretending” route is in character with Debbie, who often hides her game awareness behind her exuberance. She did orchestrate the Ozzy Lusth vote, showing she has the ability to deceive others. However, everyone saw through her fake drinking act at the merge, so to walk back and state that she was pretending to be angry to hide a partnership doesn’t make sense. She’s not that great an actor.

Over at Parade, Debbie also talked about her ideal Final Three for Survivor Game Changers, and it’s not so surprising who she thought she could beat.

"You know, I’ve always played and thought of Survivor as… you really can’t leave your true nature and character behind. Other people claim they can. I have a hard time believing it. There’s some acting going on, but… I always want the person who wins Survivor to be someone I’m always happy to see win. For me, Sierra Dawn. Her more than anybody, I wanted to go to the end with. Brad, because I thought I could beat Brad. And you know… Tai may have been in the mix."

So when Sierra said Debbie wanted a Final Three pact between the two and Sarah, it wasn’t likely coming from Debbie herself. It’s clear that CBS showed that off to make Sarah’s decision that much more complicated, especially as Debbie had already planned for a completely different result.

Speaking of Sarah, Debbie told My Xfinity that she told Brad Culpepper earlier that Sarah would be the one to flip should it occur. Maybe she should add “soothsayer” to her growing resume!

"There’s something about looking somebody in the eye and I know Sarah is a cop and she’s used to be duplicitous. But, she was off talking to too many people, too much of the time and I got a bad vibe. And you have to trust your gut. I said to Brad, “When somebody flips, it’s going to be Sarah.” It just turns out we didn’t move fast enough…at least I didn’t move fast enough."

See, when you think that only you are capable of seeing through others and making moves to counter actions that haven’t occurred yet, you know that you’re deep into the paranoia of Survivor Game Changers. If Debbie is capable of knowing who’s going to flip ahead of time, if it went through, you have to wonder how quickly Sarah will get eaten up at camp for doing so.
