Instead of a look at the challenge, we see the state of the 12 remaining players of Survivor season 35, Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, right at the merge point.

In terms of gameplay, there’s no more an important few days in Survivor than when the tribes merge into one. Not only do you see where alliances and voting blocs are formed, but you get to see exactly who’s pushing what buttons and who are making secret deals to secure safety towards the next vote. From an edgic standpoint, it’s also here that it becomes increasingly important to see who’s getting talking time, what they’re saying and who may win at the finale.

To hype people up over the momentous occasion for Survivor season 35 episode 7, “Get to Gettin’,” CBS has released the episode’s sneak peak, showing the then-current state of each of the tribes as they drop their buffs and pick up their new purple ones.

For Levu, especially Desi as pointed out by host Jeff Probst, food has become a critical issue to the point that climbing a five-foot incline to a staging platform in order to get the three-tribe shot in place is an ordeal. This has been highlighted by the short commercial that aired late last week, one that tried to hide this very merge illustrated to those who follow the show on YouTube.

More importantly, from an editing standpoint, Ben Driebergen gets a heaping bowl of content in this Survivor season 35 merge sneak peek. Not only is he the one to say the episode’s title, “Get to Gettin,'” but he cuts the confessional once everyone merges into one tribe, says that this is the true starting point of the game, notes that true alliances are found here and that it’s the first step towards getting a million dollars.

At this point, with Ryan slowly getting a negative edit and Ben getting a big hero push, I’m starting to get concerned about just how overt his winner’s edit could be. Just like Brad Culpepper early on in Game Changers, you have to keep an eye on the players that start taking a huge step forward post-merge.

Ben’s sitting pretty right now, but we’ll have to see how the merge episode plays out once it airs on November 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
