We’re just a day away from the Survivor season 35 finale, yet the official press photos show off yet another twist in the form of a new partnership.

Warning: The Survivor season 35 finale will include shots of one of the upcoming Immunity Challenges, as well as hints at possible partnerships ahead of the first Tribal Council.

When a million dollars is on the line, people will do crazy things. People will forgive conflicts of old to bring someone along who you think will help you get that one-in-three shot of receiving a life-changing amount of money. That rings true in the Survivor season 35 finale press photos, as we see one pairing, in particular, come from an unexpected place.

Like, what the hell is going on in this photo? Ben Driebergen and Chrissy Hofbeck are laughing it up like they’re partnering up on episode 2, except Chrissy was still supposedly so mad at Ben for acting like a double agent and lying for so long. Who would they target now?

As we can see in this Survivor season 35 finale photo, Chrissy’s still communicating with Ryan, although she’s doing it a lot more stealthily than previously. Prior to this episode, everyone knows how tight of a duo those two are, so it’s a bit confusing why they’re acting incognito now.

This reaction image of Devon Pinto laughing at something Chrissy has to say makes me think it has to do with Chrissy’s inactive Super Idol, gifted to her from Ryan (who conferred with Devon). The “Next Time On Survivor” preview showed her taking it out, meaning that what Chrissy could be doing is an elaborate ploy to trick Ben into a false sense of security.

This thousand-yard smile from Ryan is a clear indicator to me that there’s some sort of subterfuge in effect, as it looks like it takes all the energy he has left just to smile. The man looks completely drained!

This shot of Devon Pinto over the fire, to me, conveys two things. One, he looks downright saintly in this shot, perhaps providing an allusion to his perception at the Final Tribal Council. Second, he’s shown tending to a fire, which may also hint at his abilities to make one ahead of the fire-making Final 4 challenge.

Here is the Final 5 ahead of the penultimate Individual Immunity Challenge. In it, players will swim up to a pile of boxes, climb over and leap for balls affixed on a poll, swim to a next platform, balance over a beam, swim to the final platform and solve a complicated six-sided color puzzle.

This is the most isolated shot of Mike Zahalsky of the entire slate of Survivor season 35 finale photos, and all of these photos of the Immunity Challenge come first in the press site’s uploads. I cannot find a single photo of Mike back at camp. Make of that what you will.

Here’s Jeff Probst ahead of the (presumed) final Individual Immunity Challenge. There are no shots of the remaining players, nor of the course, indicating it is, indeed, the final one. It is here that the “Next Time On Survivor” teased a final Secret Advantage of the game, further solidifying the notion that it is the change in the Final 4 dynamics, not a completely different twist.
