In a season geared for Survivor superfans, Jacob Derwin finds himself in a great position. Not only does he blog about the show, but he’s got a charismatically goofy side to him that others are taking for granted. Sure, everyone has labeled him a superfan already, but he’s so harmless looking that they’re taking their eyes off him too early.

You see, I was going into this final choice of Survivor Ghost Island predictions ready to say Wendell Holland, but he’s so obviously seen as a chill, smart, moderately strong guy that gives off Jeremy Collins vibes minus the statuesque physique. You have strong guys like Brendan and James that know enough about the game but are so obviously challenge threats. You have social players like Libby and Stephanie that are going to eventually talk themselves into a corner. You also have big strategic threats like Bradley and Kellyn who may eventually create a power struggle down the road.

If Jacob isn’t voted out early due to a very unfortunate, shortsighted “we need strength” reason, you have a student of the game who can do a bit of everything and is a studious puzzle-oriented player. With people wanting to come to him and overlooking his threat as a winner, he could find himself weaving his way to a convincing final Tribal Council speech that will crown him the winner of Survivor Ghost Island!
