The promo for Survivor: David vs. Goliath episode 3 paints a picture of the powerful and the geeky, with the skies opening up once more.

There’s no getting around the underlying truth of Survivor: David vs. Goliath; it’s a trumped up version of the jocks versus the outcasts. The underdogs versus those who are expected to win. So far, that’s proven to be the case, with the underdogs knocks hard early with a medical evacuation and the youngest player in the game voted out.

After an epic blindside pulled off at the last (first) Tribal Council, the nerds of the underdogs are sitting pretty while tempers flare for those in power. The Survivor: David vs. Goliath episode 3 promo shows the stark difference between the two, as we get a look at the rainier of rainy challenges in progress.

It’s been the talk of the entire season, but the rain is such a factor early on. Now we have lightning and thunder impacting the players, which will certainly set up both tribes to overcome even more adversity. Meanwhile, the David tribe seems to be basket-weaving and living with a nerdocracy, leaving players like Carl feeling betrayed and feeling the hardship that comes with paranoia in the game.

It was shown in the “Next Time On Survivor” portion, too, but this promo shows Jeremy and Natalie sparring in a war of words, with Jeremy claiming her behavior is “Id-i-ot-ic.” Remember, the Goliath tribe hasn’t been to Tribal Council yet, so the target has moved from Natalie or Mike to Natalie or _____, and might shift to Natalie or Jeremy. He was just looking out for her in the last episode, too!

It’s great to see the balance of social and strategic play in Survivor: David vs. Goliath so far, as it seems to be striking right through the middle of two camps. We’ve also seen some great character moments so far; a testament to just how awesome this cast (and season) is so early in the game.
