7. Carl Boudreaux

I can’t quite understand Carl’s standing in Survivor: David vs. Goliath. It seems like he and Nick are pretty cool with each other, even though neither has been shown really hanging out before this episode. The two were on the opposite sides of the first vote of this season, yet here he happened to stumble across each other when Davie and Nick were searching for powers on the beach.

Before that, Carl’s existence in the game has purely been “person who has a new advantage.” The “shiny new trinket” edit is always weird to work around for the editors, especially when the players that hold them often have widely different personalities. His existence in the game has been a feature of circumstance, with the lone exception being the two-episode “get out Elizabeth” character “arc.”

He’s now in a triumvirate alliance of circumstance, as well, as he, Davie and Nick are the only ones aware of the Vote Steal and the Idol Nullifier. He doesn’t have much win equity, but he’s in a reliably safe spot barring a complete out of left field blindside orchestrated to get out the least threatening David player in the game.
