Survivor Edge of Extinction episode 3 press photos: Row your boat
I hope you learned about the entire cast so far, as we’re getting not one, but two challenges per the Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 3 press photos.
This post will showcase Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 3 press photos of the upcoming episode in action, including both challenges.
Something that I like about the early episodes of a Survivor season is that we spend more time getting to know the characters. There’s usually just one challenge in the opening episode (unless it’s a 2-hour, two-elimination season), allowing us all the time to get to know who these players are and why they’re sacrificing so much to compete for a million dollars.
We’ve only had two hours so far of Survivor: Edge of Extinction, and unfortunately, we haven’t had a balanced look at all the characters. I still don’t know who Julia is other than “one of many people Aubry wants to have a dialogue with,” and now the Edge of Extinction episode 3 press photos show two challenges; drastically reducing the amount of time for character development.
Right off the bat, the first photo in the batch is Reem Daly on the Edge of Extinction looking at someone offscreen. It’s clear that Keith Sowell’s moment of hesitation was an overproduced, manufactured sham meant to elevate the importance of a season theme CBS has no confidence in pulling off. Barring a severe physical ailment, nobody’s going to quit this game like that.
There are very few group photos at camp due to having two challenges in Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 3, and this is one of them. Per the filenames on the press site, it was taken before the Immunity Challenge, so I’m guessing this is just your standard strategy talk on Day 8 or Day 9.
This is, perhaps, the only other usable group shot that’s not at a challenge, with Chris tending to the fire once again. If he goes far, I doubt he’d be allowed to compete for a shot at a Firemaking Challenge; he’s so good at fire management!
The Reward Challenge looks fairly simple in theory, but difficult in practice. From the photos, it looks as though the first half is to collect bean bags in a wheelbarrow and push it along a narrow winding track.
Once that portion of the challenge is completed, the players on each tribe will then dump their bags into a pit to be used for a slingshot.
We don’t know how many targets players like Chris have to hit, but the last part of the challenge requires players to dig deep in order to pull the sling back and hit them.
So, the Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 3 Immunity Challenge has a lot of complicated aspects to it, with teamwork being the key factor. That is probably to Kama’s benefit, with Aubry, Gavin and Julia in a boat that is tethered to Eric, Ron, Joe and Aurora on ropes as they pull the boat through the water.
The tribes carry the boat players to a platform where they must climb up a ladder and jump at dangling keys; it’s been heavily featured in the opening promos for this season.
Once the tribe has all their keys, the swimmers will carry the puzzle-solvers to a trunk which they need to unlock to get some puzzle piece bags.
Those who retrieved the keys must solve a steering wheel puzzle to finish things off. For the second time in as many episodes, Aubry has the chance to redeem herself, as this ending is the second Game Changers premiere challenge in as many Edge of Extinction episodes. It doesn’t look like Julie or Victoria care, though, as they’re not even watching.

Uploaded above is a selection of as many photos of the castaways as possible, although it seems like there are not enough isolated shots or close-ups of all the castaways. Nothing I can do about that!
