If you’re one of those who tried watching Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 12 but heard no spoken audio during the first 15 minutes, you’re not alone.
This week’s episode of Survivor was a special one, as players competing for 30 days in Edge of Extinction finally got to meet their loved ones once again to give them support for the final week-plus remainder of the game. If you saw episode 12 live and heard everything, I encourage you to enjoy our recap.
However, many viewers watching Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 12 on the East Coast did not get the full experience watching the show, as some CBS affiliates, cable providers or satellite feeds featured a bad audio mix where audio only played through background scoring and noise.
Though the scope of the audio outages is unknown at this time, I can personally attest to numerous people sending us messages to our Facebook group saying they couldn’t hear people speaking during the show. More crucially, it occurred during the loved ones’ portion of the episode, including the Reward Challenge which led to some important context for tonight’s elimination.

As you can see above, CBS posted a full episode link at 11 p.m. ET to the episode as the West Coast airing of Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 12 went live. It includes the thoroughly, properly mixed audio for the entire run of the show, but you might need to be on a web browser for a non-mobile platform.
The memo came way too late for people as the episode went live, however, as people took to Twitter to voice their frustrations with CBS over the poor audio quality.

Just turned #Survivor on and gotta say, I’m surprised my entire Twitter feed wasn’t people in the greater metro area melting down over the audio.

Fifteen minutes may not seem like a gross injustice, but it certainly is important if you want to understand why people voted in a certain way in tonight’s episode. Thankfully, the remedy came quite quickly this time around.
