However, on Day 30, the game will pause for everyone, as the Reward Challenge of episode 12 will be the loved ones visit. Many players who were questioned whether or not they’d like to win this challenge will be put to the test, as being the person who dictates which players get to visit their family members or not is a double-edged sword.
As many players indicated before the season started, it’s not winning the challenge that puts you in a better spot than before; it’s being picked to go on the reward by the winner. That way, you know your place in the game, you don’t get metaphorical blood (aka emotional retribution) on your hands, and you get the boost of talking to the only person you can trust on the island.
Though the loved ones visit is a Survivor classic as old as time, a mid-school challenge that first originated in Fiji more than a decade ago will make its return as an Immunity Challenge. “Chimney Sweep” will see players stand on increasingly narrow perches, and only men have won this challenge as an individual contest. With four women and three men left in the game, the odds are in the women’s favor to start tipping the scales.
