The first two videos of Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 1 show the Vokai tribe getting to know one another and part of the first Immunity Challenge.

These two videos from the premiere of Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 1 will showcase footage from the show as it will air next Wednesday, September 25 at 8 p.m. ET.

Though it seems like just yesterday we were introduced to the 20 new castaways set to compete in Survivor: Island of the Idols, in reality, it was just 10 days ago. That means we’re just six days away from the premiere, as this has been the shortest preseason period in the show’s history.

We’re already starting to get in the groove with the weekly features such as press photos, and now that we’re on the Thursday before the next show, CBS has released the first videos for the Survivor: Island of the Idols preview. The first of two takes a look at the Vokai tribe as they finally obtain the freedom to speak to each other for the first time since hanging out for days in Ponderosa.

Lauren Beck seems to be the star of this video, pondering what the meaning of “Island of the Idols” is as she gets to know the players of her tribe. Lauren seems fairly chill, and Molly has a positive vibe about her fellow tribemates. Notice how the screen cuts to Tommy when Molly says “smart,” cuts to Kellee when she says “bright,” and Noura when she says “social.” Those are early hints at the kinds of players these people will be during the game.

The second of the Survivor: Island of the Idols premiere videos checks a look at the first combined reward and immunity challenge. Here, both the Lairo and the Vokai tribes are running up and over a series of obstacles starting with a net wall, under an army crawl obstacle, and both through a pile of sawdust and under a log on the other side.

The overhead look at the beginning of the challenge provides a layout of the entirety of what the players will be facing, and it definitely looks like it will take a lot out of the castaways. I’m seeing a pulley station to perhaps knock the “Lairo” and “Vokai” parts of each tribe’s bridges in the second half, while it looks like the tribes will be racing up a gigantic hill to, perhaps, a puzzle at the top.

Is Vokai as smart, bright, and social as they say they are, or will Lairo pull out the first win? We’ll have to find out at the 90-minute premiere next Wednesday, September 25 at 8 p.m. ET!
