The final set of Josh Wigler’s preseason interviews features the first player Jeff has ever cast on the spot and a couple of teachers who have a shot at winning Survivor.

With so many time restraints, 13 or 14 Survivor episodes aren’t long enough to tell a sufficient story for each castaway. Thankfully, there’s plenty of preseason coverage that allows us to understand the new players a lot better before they hit the beach. It’s exciting to get the chance to hear full, 20-minute conversations with the cast before everything they say in 3-day intervals is cut down to two or so confessionals.

We’ve enjoyed listening to the first 15 castaways so far thanks to Josh Wigler’s podcasts on RHAP. Now that the interviews for the final five Vokai members are up on RHAP here, we take a look at some of the most interesting highlights.

Lauren Beck is the first to get selected to play on the spot

Every year Jeff Probst is sure to get plenty of people who come up to him and tell them that they know someone who is perfect for Survivor. Jeff will give them his email and urge them to apply, but as we heard in this podcast, he has never ended up casting anyone who has done so… until Lauren came his way.

Fortunately for her, Lauren was present when Jeff received the recommendation and when Jeff met her, he knew immediately that she belonged on the show. And if she ends up winning, one of the things she wants to do with her money is buy a pet pig. Yes, that wasn’t a typo, she wants a pot-bellied pig running around in her home.

Kellee Kim is in immediate jeopardy with a cold

Beginning the game of Survivor sick is one of the most unfortunate situations to be in! She had the flu two weeks before flying out to Fiji and now has the tail ends of a cold which includes a noticeable cough. Hopefully she can get healthy fast and avoid becoming an easy first target.

On the more positive side, Kellee has some cool connections to former Survivor players. She started watching the show at Millennials vs. Gen X because Adam Klein was a friend of a friend. Although it doesn’t seem like she knew Adam to well, she did mention that she actually spoke to Angelina Keeley before flying out to Fiji.

Molly Byman had students jump over her in class!

For five years, Molly taught special ed for grade 7 and 8. Although she found helping these students to be a challenge at first, she changed her approach and started to really enjoy helping these kids. One of the most hilarious stories she told revolved around one of her students who knew parkour. Every time he finished a lesson he would literally jump over Molly!

Tommy Sheehan is Ron Clark 2.0

Although Molly is no longer a teacher, Tommy still is, and he’s incredibly passionate about it. Much like Ron Clark, Tommy uses creative techniques and out of the box methods to teach his grade 4 students. He mentioned how he never teaches the exact same lesson twice. He was also really excited to watch Ron Clark on Edge of Extinction, and he isn’t worried about backstabbing and deceiving in front of his students watching from home.

Noura Salman won’t sit down

Take Tommy’s passion for teaching and double it to get Noura’s enthusiasm for fitness. She went from being an accountant in an office all day to pursuing her passion in the health and wellness sector. Noura is so active that she finds it hard to sit down and was even encouraging Josh Wigler to change to a standing desk. It will be fun watching how Noura’s energetic disposition will fit in with her tribe members.
