Honoring Sue Hawk’s “snakes and rats” speech to a fake idol in a controversial season, the Survivor at 40: Greatest Moments and Players promo features it all.
Though it feels like the Survivor: Winners at War preseason is lasting forever (especially compared to the ultra-brief one for Island of the Idols), we will be getting Survivor content on our television screens later this week. Survivor at 40: Greatest Moments and Players was announced last month and will air this Wednesday at the show’s usual spot, setting as a precursor to the 40th season.
Unlike the 40th season, however, it appears the show will be honoring the game’s roots from the very beginning, as the Survivor at 40 promo, plus a few sneak peek videos, highlight the focus of what tomorrow’s retrospective will cover.
From the first season 20 years ago all the way to people playing fake idols in Edge of Extinction, it appears as though the show will touch on memorable moments in-between.
The first Survivor at 40 sneak peek video covers the ins and outs of the Boston Rob and Amber Mariano love story, with confessional-style interview interstitials from the loving couple likely on location for Winners at War. If you were thinking we’d cover the history of the show without covering Jeff Probst’s favorite player (and Boston Rob), you thought wrong.
There’s no way you can cover the show’s 40 seasons without covering the start, as the second sneak peek video for Survivor at 40 takes a look at the Borneo season and the impact the show had in getting the ball rolling. I can’t believe we will have Colleen Haskell on our television screens tomorrow night, and there’s no better way to encapsulate the impact these players had on reality television than to re-listen to Sue Hawk’s “snakes and rats” speech once more.
Survivor at 40: Greatest Moments and Players will air on Wednesday, February 5, at 8 p.m. ET for a one-hour special. Then, the following week will bring about the Survivor: Winners at War two-hour premiere on Wednesday, February 12, at 8 p.m. ET. The preseason is coming to a close sooner than you think!
