The tribe swap in episode 4, really disrupted Survivor 51, but not necessarily in a good or fun way. Players are second guessing everything where they previously felt secure in trying to make big moves thanks to the numbers around them.
We’re now starting to see cracks in confidence—not just alliances—as players theorize what moves can be made with so few numbers or what this might mean for the merge. And in a new sneak peek for episode 5, “Not Here to Get a Pedicure,” we’re seeing that exact paranoia play out with Maggie Nestor.
Watch the sneak peek below:
(Real quick side note after watching this clip: If you ever see anyone online or if anyone you know in real life accidentally refers to Brady Booker as Brody, do not give them grief. He says “Brody” so much that even four episodes in, I can’t help but call him Brody every now and then. He needs to come up with a new nickname for people that doesn’t essentially match his actual name...ok, getting off my soap box now…)
In the clip above, we see Brady and Maggie—two of the original Toka members who ended up on Toka again after the tribe swap—on a trip to the water well, but Maggie seems to be worried about the fact that Kristin Flickinger is now on their tribe as the only member of Savu—not including Carter Krull who mutinied—that swapped to their tribe.
As far as we know, Brady and Maggie are the only two who know about the extra vote advantage that Brady swiped out from Carter during mutiny day, which he gave to Maggie after she begged him for it.
She’s outwardly vocalizing that she could make a big move with the extra vote once they get to the merge, but they need to make sure their ducks are in a row while divided into three tribes in order to get to the merge intact.
Meanwhile, Brady is stressing that Maggie might not be someone he can trust since she seems to jump from one thought to the next within the same sentence.
He continuously refers to her as “unpredictable” and “flippy-floppy,” but is there a chance that Brady is actually going to be the one who tries to flip against the idea of staying Toka strong and voting Maggie out before the merge in order to eliminate the threat of her holding an extra vote that he might not have as much control over as he initially planned.
We’ll see what happens next—like if Brady even needs to implement a plan against anyone on his tribe based on whether or not they win immunity —when Survivor 51 episode 5, “Not Here to Get a Pedicure,” airs tonight, Wednesday, October 21 at 8 p.m. ET, on CBS and Paramount+!
