Survivor 49 is fully underway, with a medevac, a tribe swap, and another switch incoming in the sixth episode under its belt so far. However, the biggest Survivor news to have circulated on social media over the last week didn't come from the season itself, but from the Survivor official podcast.
On a new episode of the On Fire with Jeff Probst podcast, which began in 2023 alongside Survivor 44 to bring fans, players, and Survivor producers even closer, Jeff Probst, Jay Wolff, and Jeremy Collins, three-time Survivor player and Survivor Cambodia winner, discussed Parvati Shallow's legacy and ended up in some hot water.
Jeremey was asked about Parvati Shallow's recent win on Australian Survivor: Australia V The World, and revealed that he doesn't think the win makes Parvati a two-time Survivor winner.

After Jeff asked whether he thought Parvati had won twice, as Sandra Diaz-Twine and Tony Vlachos have on the Survivor US franchise, Jeremy responded, "I don't think so." Jeremy added that in his Survivor world, Parvati has 1.5 wins, since Australian Survivor is good but not the same as the American version.
Unsurprisingly, Parvati herself has responded to Jeremy's comments. In an Instagram post where Jeremy's comments are clipped, Parvati wrote, "A couple of straight men trying to discredit a woman… get a new move, boys."
Under the same post, other Survivor alums have also rallied behind Parvati. Three-time Survivor player Kelley Wentworth commented, "Eyes are all the way in the back of my head 🙄."
Two-time player Eliza Orlins, who also competed alongside Parvati on Survivor Micronesia, added, "LOLLLL GIVE ME A BREAK. Then the winner of any 26-day season only has a 2/3 win, RIGHT??????" Carolyn Wiger from Survivor 44 tagged Jeremy on the post while also exclaiming, "gurrrl!!!!!! 🧐"
Other Survivor winners, such as Natalie Anderson and Tyson Apostol, also manifested their thoughts. Natalie, who is Jeremy's friend, wrote on the instagram post, "It's giving set up," regarding Jeremy's response to Jeff's loaded question.
So a chopped down version of survivor is still survivor but if you chop it a little bit more it’s not?

For his part, Tyson tweeted, "So a chopped down version of survivor is still survivor, but if you chop it a little bit more it's not?" Tyson's comment stems from Jeff's constant praise of the new era 26-day format, noting that it's more complicated and much faster-paced than the original 39-day version.
While AU V The World lasted 16 days, the Australian Survivor franchise is notorious for lasting longer than its American counterpart, as seasons are over 50 days. Fans and even former players have alluded to the new era being a "watered-down version of the game," and were even more incensed by Jeff and Jeremy's comments.
Others also agreed with Jeremy by saying that only American Survivor wins should officially count.

As an avid Survivor podcast listener, I've enjoyed so far Jeremy's old-school perspective on the new era, and it's been compelling to hear how he would adjust his gameplay accordingly to the evolving game. But, I wholeheartedly support Parvati being a two-time winner, as she won two Survivor games. While each Survivor global franchise has its own tweaks and additions, they all encompass the outwitting, outplaying, and outlasting aspects of the game, which make anyone who participates a Survivor player, and anyone who wins a Survivor winner.
In addition, while the Australian Survivor global all-stars season indeed lasted only 16 days, it was filled with international winners, legends, and an all-around studded cast. Parvati didn't win against rookies or newcomers, as she also beat Survivor legends Cirie Fields, Tony Vlachos, Kirby Bentley, and Rob Bentele, to name a few.
Parvati has earned everyone's respect throughout her Survivor career. Therefore, her legacy should be at least recognized as such.
