Survivor 51 has been the gift that keeps on giving. For three weeks straight, it's been engaging and hilarious, keeping us on the edge of our seats as we watch what new shenanigans unfold.
Starting with 21 people, the cast is already down to 17 by episode 3 due to Rob Antonson’s questionable quit and Patt Cannaday’s blindside. While much of the internet discourse has focused on Antonson’s decision, I think it should focus on the most recently eliminated player who stuck it out even though she was actually injured. More on that later.

Cannaday’s stint on Survivor was anything but uneventful, as right out of the gate, she lost her pants during the marooning. Not wanting to be known as "pantless Patt," she went on to work on the other players and, with her charm and social game, started to gain entry with a couple of people.
Later, once she joined the Toka tribe, she aligned with Jelly Loblack, Devin Way, Brady Booker, and Mike Pinsky, which fans refer to as the Toka Five. Cannaday was particularly close to Loblack, which was shown when Loblack shared that she had an idol with Cannaday, and both promised to ride with each other moving forward.
While the Toka Five seemed to be in control, they were so close that the other six Toka members saw them as a threat. Danny Kilby, Jenna Doore, Thien An Nguyen, and Maggie Nestor formed a counter faction to gain the upper hand and, alongside outsiders and swing votes Lewis Kelly and Carter Krull, blindsided the Toka Five in a 6-5 vote, eliminating Cannaday from the game in a brutal blindside.

While speaking to Dalton Ross for Entertainment Weekly, Cannaday was asked in jest about whether she was wearing pants for the interview. Cannaday volleyed back that she was, but had actually considered not to. As for what happened to the now-iconic missing pants, Cannaday revealed she had to take them off during the marooning because they weren’t swim pants, but they got lost in the scramble and were never seen again.
Getting to the nitty-gritty, Cannaday was then asked what happened to her shoulder, as it looked to be in bad shape. Cannaday revealed that during the first challenge, she got her entire back rug-burned due to the ropes, and as she later slept on the ground, she got an infection. To make matters worse, she later wore a jacket, and when she took it off, some skin got ripped off with it, making it even more painful.

Ross then asked Cannaday, ‘’You could’ve just pulled yourself from the game. We saw someone else do that, being worried about an infection.’’ This obviously refers to Antonson quitting over the tiniest cut in Survivor’s history and being scared of getting an infection from it.
Cannaday succintly replied, ‘’Never. Never. I would’ve had to be on death’s doorstep. Maybe not even then.’’ Well, that’s exactly what separates players like Cannaday, Booker (who lost a quarter of his thumb), and Kristin Flickinger (who injured her foot during episode two) from someone who couldn’t cut it six days on Survivor.
