Get ready Survivor fans because change is coming and it’s coming tonight! This evening, The Amazing Race finally kicks off its new season, and with the show’s arrival comes a change in CBS’s schedule and the runtime for new Survivor episodes.

Beginning this Wednesday night, CBS will be shaking up the formatting of the show as we move away from 2-hour episodes and transition to 90-minute episodes for the remainder of the season (or at least most of the season). Instead of airing from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET, Survivor will now wrap at 9:30 p.m. with new 90-minute episodes of The Amazing Race airing directly after.

While the episodes will be a bit shorter, we shouldn’t notice that big of a difference in the actual formatting of the episode itself. We should see the episodes still featuring the normal elements of the show including the immunity challenge and then a tribal council. Oh and don’t expect to see any less drama as CBS is sure to inject just as much drama into these 90-minute episodes as we’ve seen in the first two episodes of season 46!

New episodes of Survivor will be 90 minutes from now on, but the finale will likely longer

Although new episodes of Survivor will be 90 minutes long beginning starting with the third episode of the season on March 13, fans should still expect at least one more extended episode this season!

CBS has not announced the full schedule for the season ahead, but we’re anticipating that the season finale will again be a super-sized outing! Following the usual trend of the show, the season 46 finale should again be three hours long and will likely air the week after The Amazing Race wraps its season.

We’re anticipating that the season will wrap around May 22, 2024, meaning there is still plenty of game left to be played and plenty more Survivor to enjoy in the weeks ahead!
