There are very few people who can claim to be reality TV royalty, and one of them is none other than Rachel Reilly. Starting herTV journey onBig Brother 12, Reilly immediately caused a commotion with her one-liners, her showmance with future husband Brendon Villegas, and her competitive streak.
The following year, Reilly wonBig Brother 13, further cementing her legacy. Reilly then went on to compete on other shows such asThe Amazing Race,Snake in the Grass,Celebrity Fear Factor,Worst Cooks in America, andThe Traitors; most recently, she returned for her third BB run during its 27th season just last summer, where she was never nominated and was only eliminated due to the controversial White Locust twist.
Plenty of fans know that there’s a long-running rivalry between Survivor and Big Brother players, with each side claiming their game is the toughest one. So, it’s rare for a former contestant to root for a newcomer from the other show.
True to marching to the beat of her own drum, Reilly has publicly gone on record about cheering forSurvivoralumni Dee Valladares and Rick Devens to winBig Brother. Speaking toPage Six, Reilly expressed, “I kind of want them to steamroll it, because I feel like if Dee and Devens can outwit, outplay, outlast these people, and if they can win competitions and use their powers at the right time, I’m hoping that for future seasons if we do see another ‘Survivor’ player or if we see any more returnees, that we have more of an outright battle from the beginning.”
Reilly also said Valladares and Devens have consistently dominated the game alongside another icon, Angela Murray, who originally competed inBig Brother 26. The three icons were the only ones allowed to compete for the first HOH of the season (leader of the house with immunity), basically setting up the house’s power structure from the get-go.
In addition, Reilly compared Valladares’ and Devens’ games to other BB28 players like Drew Campbell and Barrett Pfeiffer, as the latter duo have been notorious floaters throughout the season and have repeatedly given game information to the icons, even to their own detriment. Reilly shared, “We see [Drew] Campbell and [Barrett] Pfeiffer this season going and reporting information to the ‘Icons’ — like what is that all about?… So I think the fact that [Valladares and Devens] are able to outplay these people so easily… I give them props. You have to give it to the gamer.”
Contrarily, Danielle Reyes (Big Brother 3,Big Brother 7,Big Brother: Reindeer Games) disclosed she is, in fact, rooting against theSurvivoricons. Reyes said, ”If you’re ‘Big Brother’ alumni, we do not want them to win…We want to see them play the game, but we don’t want them to win because that’s our kingdom.”
Reyes continued, “We don’t want them to come into our ‘Big Brother’ house and win, when we have this inner struggle of what’s the harder show, ‘Big Brother’ or ‘Survivor?’ So that’s where I stand in watching these two play this game.”
Lastly, Britney Haynes (Big Brother 12, Big Brother 14, Big Brother: Reindeer Games) agreed with Reyes in rooting against theSurvivorplayers because of the rivalry mentioned above. To her point, Haynes interjected, “Winning both shows, which Dee has the potential to do, that is something that has never been done… So of course, there’s that piece of you that wants the ‘Big Brother’ person to be the first one to do it.”
As to returning to playBig Brotheronce more, Reilly revealed she would be open, but only with a caveat. Reilly said, “I think they could do a legends season for like three weeks or something like that. I mean, I would go for that.”
