For the first time this season, Survivor has released a sneak peek clip that gave us fans something I didn't think we'd ever see—and honestly, I don't think we'll ever get to experience it again in Survivor 49.
While nearly every Tribal Council has ended in a blindside, numerous hidden immunity idols have been found and played, and even a near-death experience occurred, this might truly be the more shocking sight of all this season. And, there's no doubt that true fans will agree.
Sophie Segreti was the first unanimous elimination in Survivor 49
And with her leave to the jury comes another first for our castaways: the first time this season they've returned from Tribal Council and gotten to collectively celebrate a successful vote that they all wanted to make. For one glorious moment, all the remaining players are on the same page for the first time in Survivor 49.
We get to witness a first look at this lead-in moment of episode 12, "The Die Is Cast," in the clip above, narrated around Steven Ramm who has a lot of skin in the game after he had his official main character moment in the last episode. No doubt a journey advantage and another immunity win have increased the target on his back, but for once everyone's on the same page, and it could mean he has a chance to flip some votes that have previously been on the other side of his.
He goes on to discuss how voting out Sophie was about both revenge and strategy for him—touching on the conversation that took place last Tribal Council when Savannah Louie said her vote was simply about revenge and Sage Ahrens-Nichols went a little deeper to convey her vote was strategic, but also got revenge in the process. The revenge came in the form of getting rid of the leader of the Jawan Pitts vote while the strategy came in the form of getting rid of one of the few challenge threats he's been up against while keeping his advantage.
Steven's target keeps growing, but so has his arsenal of weapons
That's huge because it's already confirmed that he is not someone people are necessarily wanting to go to the end with—he just has too many good relationships with the people on the jury and he's building a really good resume to present at Final Tribal Council.
At this point, the only path to the end for him may be through sheer force and wins.
So the question people should be asking going into this week's episode is whether or not Steven got his main character moment just in time to be sent to the jury (similar to Sophie) or if a massive move is coming, courtesy of him.
We'll find out this Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 8 p.m. EST when the next episode of Survivor 49 airs on CBS and Paramount+.
