Boston Rob Mariano is known as the Godfather of Survivor for a reason. He's a brilliant strategist, a savvy social player, and he's not one to turn down a challenge of any size.
So of course when he and Dylan Efron became friends during their time together on season 3 of The Traitors, the bromance stemmed from a collective love of competition. The pair are teaming up for a new competition reality series, aptly titled, Everything's a Competition.
Dylan describes Boston Rob as "a reality legend – always out strategizing, always clutch."
"We compete...in literally everything," Efron exclusively told Deadline while discussing their latest project together.
The YouTube series will premiere on Thursday, Dec. 11 at 9 a.m. EST and will feature a spectrum of challenges from hamburger making to sword fighting and everything in between as seen in the trailer, below.
So we can definitely expect that every moment, planned or not, will somehow turn into a competition between the two friends. After all, Dylan went on to win season 3 of The Traitors, which means he already has one crown over Rob. And knowing that Rob came back and competed on Survivor four times before he finally took home the title of Sole Survivor in season 22 (Survivor: Redemption Island) is a reminder that he's not going to back down until he's claimed his thrown.
"That kid loves to show off his skills," Boston Rob said of his buddy, Dylan, "and I love to put him in his place."
Of course, it's all in good, competitive fun, but that's what will make Everything's a Competition an incredible new YouTube series. Some of the top channels on the platform revolve around people playing games because audiences love rooting for people, but they also love competitive camaraderie. And this is going to be the perfect combination of both.
Nothing feels more nostalgic than family game night and Boston Rob and Dylan are taking that to the next level with new, crazy ways to battle it out. But at the center of it all is their hilarious dynamic and chemistry that everyone fell in love with while watching The Traitors since the beginning of the year.
In fact, Dylan "can’t wait for people to see what happens when we’re together," while Boston Rob agrees that "we’ve had a great time coming up with these episodes and fighting it out to see who comes out on top."
And I am certainly going to be tuning in to witness the shenanigans that are sure to go down on Everything's a Compeitition when it premieres Thursday, Dec. 11 only on YouTube. Already have my finger's crossed we get a season 2!
