The Traitors Australia’s future did not look bright after it was announced that it would not be returning for the 2024 season, but could this hiatus be temporary after all?
Reality TV News/Updates, a reality TV news account, reported across their social media platforms that Channel 10 is eyeing to have the franchise return, and soon. The initial rumor was circulated in a tabloid article, the specifics of which were not confirmed.
But the rumors regarding a reality TV return do not stop there. Reality TV News/Updates also mentions that former Australian Survivor host Jonathan LaPaglia is in the mix to join as the new host of the franchise. For the first two seasons of the series has been presented by Australian actor Roger Corser.

Australian Survivor has been airing for 12 seasons and counting, with its highly anticipated 13th iteration, Australia v. The World, premiering on Aug. 17. The first two seasons, which aired in 2001 and 2006, were hosted by Lincoln Howes and Ian “Dicko” Dickson, respectively. LaPaglia joined as the show’s permanent host when the series was revived in 2016.
However, rumors circulated earlier this summer that LaPaglia had been unexpectedly let go after Australia v The World wrapped filming. Channel 10 and Lapaglia himself confirmed the news in June 2025, with the now former host calling it a “blindside” on his instagram post.
For those hoping to see the former Australian Survivor staple make a grand return to his hosting duties, it’s best to not get your hopes up right away. Reality TV New/Updates also mentioned in their post that they can not confirm the accuracy of this rumor or the credibility of the tabloid site in question. However, should this rumor be true, it will likely be confirmed by Channel 10 during their UpFronts, which takes place in September.
The Channel 10 Upfronts are an event of significance for Australian television, as it is here where the network will announce its programming for the upcoming year. Should The Traitors Australia actually be returning in 2026, fans will learn more about the revival there.
It’s potentially shaping up to be a fun year ahead for fans of Australian TV and Jonathan LaPaglia in particular. However, even if the rumor isn’t true, fans still have one last chance to enjoy him when Australia v. The World returns next week. Here’s hoping that September brings more good news!
