The second season of NBC’s hit reality globetrotting competition is shaking things up with the addition of six reality competition stars including Survivor: Ghost Island winner Wendell Holland. For those who enjoy “fan vs. favorite” seasons, this one’s for you!
Joined by former The Traitors and Big Brother contestants, Love Island and Below Deck franchise cast members, as well as seven fresh faces, Wendell will once again have to outwit, outplay, and outlast as the world turns into a real-life gameboard, much larger than the islands of Fiji.
Hosted by Jeffrey Dean Morgan—best known for his role in The Walking Dead universe—these 13 strangers will blindly travel across Europe together with the goal of being the best at guessing where in the world they are. But that’s just the beginning. They’ll all be kept in close quarters on the blacked-out Destination X bus as alliances and rivalries form.
In the end, the first player who reaches the ultimate “Destination X” will win a $250,000 grand prize.
Will Wendell have what it takes to win Destination X?
Strategic, social, and good at challenges, Wendell has all the tools he needs to make it through the competition, but I think he’d be smart to align with some of those Below Deck cast members. They literally travel around the world for a living. I have a very strong feeling that they are going to be excellent at this game, but Wendell’s Survivor-winning skills will likely translate well here.
After winning Survivor: Ghost Island, Wendell went on to compete on the 20th anniversary season, Survivor: Winners at War, where he once again proved himself as a fierce competitor, making it to the merge before being voted out in 13th place due to his threat level. He went on to stick it out on the Edge of Extinction, almost earning a spot back in the game, but ultimately landing on the jury.

With Destination X having similar standards of gameplay as Survivor—living together in strange conditions, relying on powers of observations and problem-solving, as well as taxing challenges—I’d say of all the fellow reality stars joining him, Wendell likely has the best skillset on his resume. However, the unknowns always seem to have a way of sneaking up on our favorite players and it’s possible they could surprise us.
The series is currently in post-production after wrapping filming and, while there’s no official premiere date, based on other competition shows, it will likely start airing this fall/winter.
