There was so much going on at the Survivor Game Changers Episode 3 immunity challenge, including an idol snag and a close finish.

Obvious spoiler warning for the Survivor Game Changers Episode 3 immunity challenge.

After the two previous tribes had swapped to three, there were plenty of storylines heading into the Survivor Game Changers Episode 3 immunity challenge. J.T. was all alone on Nuku, having been put up against five former Nuku tribe members. Hali and Caleb were on the outs based on their numbers. Troyzan, too, was all alone on Tavua, but as our recap will tell you, he had a clue to the hidden immunity idol.

There’s a catch; the idol was hidden at the immunity challenge puzzle station, the last part of the Survivor Game Changers re-worked version of Austin’s Elemental Obstacle Course from Survivor San Juan del Sur. Conceived by a kid from the Make a Wish Foundation, last time it came around it really messed up Missy’s ankle.

This time we saw no such pain in Survivor Game Changers Episode 3, as each tribe split up into two teams of three. The first three would be clipped together and make their way through a series of winding obstacles. Then, grabbing a bucket and filling it with water, they would make their way over a huge teeter-totter on the way to a small set of stairs to fill up the water bucket. Once the bucket is filled enough, a cage barrier would drop, and once each team reached their mat, the other three tribe members would work on solving a puzzle.

Nuku started out strong, blazing through the winding deathtrap at the start and getting their water bucket filled first. Tavua was not too far behind, but Debbie brought Mana down by getting stuck on the obstacles. Mana made up some time on Tavua on filling their water bucket, getting to the puzzle portion right behind Tavua.

More from Season 34 Game Changers

Sierra helped Mana make up even more time by untying the knots on the puzzle pieces much faster than Tavua did, as Troyzan likely thought too much about going for the hidden immunity idol after the Survivor Game Changers Episode 3 immunity challenge was over.

Sandra and Varner were blazing through the puzzle portion quickly, proving that there may be some fire in Sandra’s challenge game yet. They won first, opting to choose a comfort reward item in the form of blankets, pillows, and a hammock.

Zeke and Cirie thought they finished the puzzle, only for Jeff Probst to notice some pieces were misplaced. This gave Hali and Brad get another chance to catch up for Mana, but ultimately, they could not figure it out. Caleb was this close to finally getting that salt and pepper he fought for in Kaoh Rong, but Tavua ultimately came through and won the second immunity.
