After a bumpy start last week, the Survivor Game Changers ratings for Episode 3 show a slight improvement as March Madness officially begins.
This year’s a bit odd for Survivor. Usually, the first season of the year starts in February, giving about two months off since the finale of the previous season. For the first time in Survivor history, Survivor Game Changers debuted in March, let alone the second week of March. Game changer! That may have explained the Survivor Game Changers ratings early on, as the premiere was the worst in the show’s history.
The proliferation of streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and even CBS All Access have taken away viewers from network television and away from the prying eyes of Nielsen, and the unusual start date may have had a huge impact on casual fans not knowing when the show was starting up again. Things are even better for the Survivor Game Changers ratings in Episode 3, “Survivor Jackpot,” as they were above even the premiere.

Survivor Game Changers Episode 3 received a 1.7 rating with a 7 share for the Adults 18-49 demographic, meaning roughly 1.7% of all televisions were watching Wednesday’s episode. More importantly, roughly seven percent of active television watchers during its airtime were watching Troyzan’s wild antics live on Wednesday evening. 7.76 million people were watching, per the live + same-day numbers.
Compared to the Survivor Game Changers ratings for Episode 1, roughly 150,000 more people were watching Episode 3. These numbers are still markedly lower than anything in Survivor history but compared to the weekly ranking of all television viewership, the premiere is still sitting in its usual mid-teens ranking.
The panic shouldn’t start to settle in just yet, as the introduction of CBS’ Hunted meant there was no true break in CBS’ “intense reality gaming show” demographic. Survivor isn’t in any immediate danger of being canceled, as it’s still quite cheap to produce and fresh in gameplay dynamics. We’re not quite in Survivor Celebrity Edition emergency mode yet!
