In the latest preview for Survivor Game Changers episode 7, “What Happened on Exile, Stays on Exile,” Brad Culpepper gets emotional.

The editors of Survivor Game Changers have made it a bit more difficult to guess who’s going home each week than we’re used to. A downside to this, however, is that the strong favorites to win have been telegraphed so clearly. The latest ET Canada preview for episode 7, “What Happened on Exile, Stays on Exile,” highlights the downside by humanizing Brad Culpepper in an extremely obvious way.

Early this season, the Survivor edgic has been providing a few possible candidates to win Survivor Game Changers. Brad Culpepper has been the player most obviously shoved in front of the camera to highlight their strengths and vulnerabilities, allowing the audience to empathize with him as a person.

More from Season 34 Game Changers

This preview is no exception, as Brad Culpepper is leading the discussion about the stresses of the game, the hunger and the overall challenges that come with going deep into the game. Despite it being just Day 17 (or thereabouts) when he makes this speech, those extra days alone, without the guidance of his wife and former player, Monica Culpepper, he can finally understand how hard it was for her to get this far and the toll it takes on you.

This scene is an obvious highlight of his humanity, especially in a season where gameplay, conniving and twists have taken center stage. You can’t have a season of Survivor Game Changers and have it 100% focused on changing the game, as you need to allow the personalities of the cast to give the show life.

I’m glad CBS took the time to de-escalate the villain edit Brad Culpepper undeservedly received in Survivor Blood vs. Water, as at this rate, they will need to craft a relatable edit for a potential winner.
