After last week’s episode of Survivor: Game Changers, how will the show move forward? With a two-hour episode, of course!
Survivorusually doesn’t air two-hour episodes like other long-running reality TV shows that we could name, but won’t, as this is Surviving Tribal. For the most part,Survivorsimply doesn’t need to. After so many seasons, the editing team has mostly mastered the art of telling stories in 42 minutes or so. (Whether or not those stories are coherent throughout seasons is up for debate, and there are certainly cases on both sides to be made.)
But some events inSurvivorrequire a little more in the way of storytelling. The merge is usually one such occasion. Now, it appears that there may be more than one elimination happening on tonight’s episode, as that happened in the premiere as well, which was the last timeGame Changerstook up two hours. A look at CBS’press photosshow that their descriptions say that they’re from “the eighth and ninth episode.” That suggests that there will be two Tribal Councils and twice as many chances for Probst to look shocked, as he’s done so many times over this season already.
In that case, the merge and the usual post-merge circling to determine who’s remained loyal and who hasn’t may not go for quite as long as we expect. Then again, Probst and the rest of the producers may have something completely different in store. They’ve certainly shown a willingness to do things differently this season, haven’t they?
(No, we’re still not over Malcolm’s elimination.)
Anyway, prepare yourself for perhaps moreSurvivor: Game Changersaction than we can handle … Oh, who are we kidding? We’re ready to go.
