Survivor: Game Changers, like many seasons of Survivor before it, will have a maze as one of its final immunity challenges. A new video shows us more.

Survivor: Game Changers‘ finale will have a maze. We’ve known about this since last week’s sneak peek at the end of the episode, and then had it confirmed by both the 20-second promo as well as the finale’s photos.

Since telling us more about the maze doesn’t constitute a spoiler, or at least that’s what we think went into this decision, CBS has released nearly two minutes of the finale … and they’re about the maze.

Check out the video below:

First things first, this is a combined reward and immunity challenge. Game Changers hasn’t really dipped into this well during the individual phase of the game. Pasta, meat, and bread represents a huge amount of carbs and protein — meaning that the winner of this challenge might enjoy an advantage for the next immunity challenges. Also, Aubry’s expression when told about the garlic bread says it all: garlic bread is really good. Finally, the key lime pie, with all its sugar, will provide a shorter-term burst of energy.

Now, to the actual maze. Requiring players to retrieve three bags of puzzle pieces kind of seems small for the sheer size of this maze, but if there had been more puzzle pieces, the puzzle itself would have become even more complex than it already appears to be. It could have also had even smaller pieces. Neither was probably ideal to the designers’ way of thinking.

Finally, as Jeff Probst says, this takes place on day 36. Simple math tells us there’s likely going to be another challenge on day 37 as well as one on day 38 to get it down to three people on the morning of day 39 to enjoy the traditional celebratory meal. That’s how these things typically work.
