Survivor Game Changers: Each player’s big game-changing moment
Hali Ford – Standing up for herself versus Caleb
Of all the returning players, Hali seemed like the most everyday player of them all. Not doing much in Worlds Apart and doing little in terms of her Survivor familiarity (like, she was shocked that Sandra Diaz-Twine, of all players, had a potty mouth), she played early on as a number who did what she was told.
However, once the Mana and Nuku tribes split into three, it was just her and Caleb back on old Mana. Despite her lack of game presence, she arrived at tribal council convinced she would not go home if she stood her ground.
The majority of the tribe had their mind up, but Hali showed an incredible presence in delivering her arguments, appealing to the mindset of who the majority alliance should keep going forward compared to what their needs will be in the short term. She wasn’t condescending, nor did she undercut her opponent, Caleb, in her reasoning.
Whether it was getting “Metamorphosis” in a quick second, not consenting to vote in Malcolm’s elimination or being confused about why people think she had an idol, Hali was odd due to just how normal she was.
