Survivor 2004: From showmance to showmarriage

If you ever see a girl cozy up to a guy or vice versa, everyone else immediately gets on their case to the point of trying to split them up immediately. Some people want to push forward their sexual appeal that is marketable beyond the show, and that’s absolutely fine. Others, in all honesty, can’t help but fall in love, tanking their Survivor gameplay despite themselves.

The reason why there’s so much hesitancy? It’s because of Boston Rob and Amber Brkich, two players from different seasons brought together in the first All-Stars season. Boston Rob brought the perceived scumbaggery to the proceedings, outright talking mad trash about everyone, lying to them unnecessarily in his scheming and reneging on grand vows.

Amber, however, brought a real humanity to the team, being a thoughtful strategist and being crucial to developing a team capable of making it to the Final 2. Once there, before the votes were even read, Boston Rob’s love for Amber blossomed between filming and the finale, as he proposed to Amber. She said yes, and the two remain madly in love to this very day.

With that, though, showed a real-world story in a reality competition, changing how those who couple up are viewed for as long as the game airs on television.
