Survivor 2008: “It’s a f—ing stick!”

Despite the power balance of Fans vs. Favorites seasons, with seasoned players having an obvious advantage in familiarity, strategy and social play, Survivor Micronesia set the standard right with a mix of goofy characters, powerful players and a good mixture of twists.

With the game wide open and Jason and Eliza on the outs with the merged tribe, they found each other as odd bedfellows. Jason felt comfortable enough to reveal the fact that he had a Hidden Immunity Idol, and ever offered to give it to her if he won the first Individual Immunity Challenge.

Upon seeing the “Idol,” however, Eliza aptly declared that the advantage was just a stick. She used a bit more colorful language than that but hoped that the stick with a happy face (crafted by Ozzy Lusth after finding the real one at Exile Island) would save her.

Once they reached Tribal Council, everyone broke into laughter as soon as Eliza used it, with Ozzy even upset that Jeff threw it into the fire. It was a great, hilarious moment that showed Eliza’s strength as an entertaining, reaction-based character.
