While there is certainly a slight amount of self-awareness about how he played Survivor, Russell Hantz can’t help but go full bore heading into his AMA.

There has probably never been a Survivor player as divisive in fandom as Russell Hantz. Many love him for his ability and willingness to “tell it as it is,” while others might point out that calling women dumbasses en route to sending them to a place where they decide who wins a million dollars might not be a winning strategy ever.

Regardless, he’s made quite the name for himself through the show and has successfully launched a new podcast that has been shockingly insightful, as of late. To promote his new podcast, as well as his new Patreon, the repeat Survivor runner-up answered questions in a Reddit AMA on the show’s subreddit community.

Russell Hantz has an unparalleled ability to answer questions and give his opinions that you might not find others answering (for good purpose), and there’s certainly some spicy Survivor details revealed here. For example, he said the only reason he got invited to Heroes vs. Villains as a Villain player is because he got into a fight at the Final Tribal Council.

Some of Russell’s answers are quite humbling and honest, including his favorite winner being Kim Spradlin, admitting that he has regrets about his Survivor Samoa play and that Andrea Boehlke and Phillip Sheppard would be the best players on Redemption Island if he and Boston Rob weren’t on the show. There are a lot of people who underrate Andrea as a Survivor legend, so I’m glad to hear someone of prominence give a shoutout.

In other places, Russell Hantz was there to humblebrag while answer peoples’ questions. He called Richard Hatch the Alpha and himself the Omega (beginning and end), said both juries he faced in Survivor were bitter and answered many questions with a link to his Patreon. It’s never uneventful when Russell is around.
