Another good reason not to listen to gossip rags; Jeff Probst denies rumors that he’s been edged out of hosting Survivor by members of his family.

You could throw a stick outside a New York window, hit someone in the head and ask him what’s going on in celebrity news out there and have more accurate information than what you hear in gossip rags. Still, any inkling of Survivor news in this, the unending offseason, is more than likely to grab some attention, even if it comes at a salacious rumor that Jeff Probst might leave the show.

For clarity purposes, I must link to the Radar Online story posted by “Radar Staff” (because nobody would back this up with their own name in the byline). In it, they say they have learned Jeff Probst’s wife, Lisa Russell, “has ordered 55-year-old Probst to quit the hit reality competition and focus on their family life instead.”

An “insider” suggests that she wants him to stay at home since they are “set for life” and she needs some stability in order to maintain the teenaged children that live in their house. For some reason, being away for less than three months of the year is too much in this “insider” scenario.

Even former Survivor players were worried that it could have been true, even if it was very likely false. Millennials vs. Gen X player Jessica Lewis tweeted about the story, although she got a personal answer from Jeff Probst himself that the rumors were merely that.

Jeff Probst has an excellent gig, evolved from just a mere host. Now he helps put his mark on the show by leading decisions on the production side, helping the show secure 35th and 36th seasons.

Survivor Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers will debut on September 27, and by the looks of the rumors we have these days, it will not be a moment too soon.
