1. Yul Kwon

Over a year ago, prior to the founding of Surviving Tribal, I put Yul Kwon on my list of the top 15 Survivor players ever, although here on ST, I ranked him pretty low just because it was really hard to justify putting him higher among the winners (or, more accurately … what was I thinking?…I can’t answer that question, but the next time we here at Tribal rank the winners, I will correct my mistake). I sat through Cook Islands again here on ST at least partially because I really like Yul’s game.

If Yul comes back on an all-winners season, which seems like the best place to put him, there would be a key question he would need to answer. How would he play with a very different hidden immunity idol situation? I identified this as a problem in my own 2016 assessment, and it’s one that my colleague, Daniel George, also picked up on in his write-up of Yul on the Tribal winners’ list.

But Cook Islands makes Yul’s case for being a good player pretty effectively, even before he wrapped it up at Final Tribal Council.

Next: Survivor locations: Which is the best for the game?

Survivor always needs more returnees. If any of these five Cook Islands players were willing to return to the game, that season would probably be made all the more interesting by their presence.
