The setup for the fake immunity idol of Survivor: Micronesia paid off on a trip to Exile Island by someone who hadn’t been there before.

In episode 6 of Survivor: Micronesia, the ongoing run of injuries continued, resulting in two players leaving the game, but, perhaps more importantly, Ozzy’s creation ended up actually tricking someone.

The day after Joel went home, Tracy continued playing the game incredibly hard, trying to pull Erik in to try and get a favorite out sooner rather than later, with Ami offering an emotional connection.

Micronesia got a lot less physical for its reward challenge, which gave each tribe 10 minutes to blockade a tunnel for the other tribe. Jonathan did not actually sit out, and Airai actually took the reward of two locals coming to teach the tribe how to survive and also putting Chet and Jason on Exile Island.

However, Jonathan’s knee did not improve, and with the doctor recommending he go to the hospital, he had to be medically evacuated. He was in tears, and so were a lot of members of Airai saying goodbye to him. Jeff Probst later told everyone that after surgery, Jonathan was fine.

And the episode came to part two of the Exile Island immunity idol saga. Jason found the false idol left behind by Ozzy. The music really said it all, and even Jason seemed slightly skeptical, dubbing the piece of wood “not much.” One would think that the lack of any rule sheet might have clued a fan like him in that it wasn’t the real idol, but nope. Jason even openly said that he thought Ozzy had the idol, presumably as a play to move suspicion off of him because he seemed to think he had the real idol.

In the immunity challenge, Airai broke the parameters by just putting people on one pole and letting James carry them across. Probst did not stop them, but he did comment on it.

Chet then offered to be the sacrificial lamb based on an injury he had to his foot. However, Erik proposed using Chet as a vote to get Ozzy or someone else off. Unfortunately, it didn’t come to fruition: Chet got five votes, while he and Tracy (!) voted for Erik.

Quick notes:

  • Erik found himself almost as blindsided as Joel after the vote in episode 5, which laid the foundation for other things to surprise him down the road.
  • Edwin and Joe, the Micronesians who came to help Airai, stayed into the night, and they brought beverages.

For episode 7, it’ll be another rough episode for another player.
