What better way to bring together the dominant alliance of Survivor: Micronesia in its final form than by the second biggest surprise of the season?
When it comes to talking about famous alliances that have names in Survivor history, there are a few that come to mind: the Tagi alliance. The Aitu Four. And now we’re finally getting to the Black Widow Brigade of Survivor: Micronesia making its first official move of the game.
The season has established the foundation already, with the women talking about working together throughout, especially Parvati and her “hot pickle” web of alliances. As we go through this episode, pay attention to her in particular.
The team reward challenge had an obstacle course and a memory puzzle portion. Captains Natalie and Jason chose everyone but Cirie, so she went off to Exile Island. Jason’s team, with Erik, Ozzy, and Amanda, got to fly to Yap, an island.
When they came back, Parvati and Alexis had a conversation about how Ozzy couldn’t stop discussing the reward, which Amanda picked up on, worried that Parvati’s new friends weren’t good alliance partners.
She was right to worry, because Survivor found an immunity challenge Ozzy didn’t win: holding your hand up to stop a bucket of water from pouring all over them. Erik and Cirie gave up for candy. Ozzy himself actually took Jeff Probst’s offer of chocolate doughnuts. After six hours, Probst offered a smorgasbord option for everyone to share, the people who were out offered a “guarantee” that Jason would survive the night, although certain people crossed their fingers just in case. Jason stepped down, leaving Parvati to win.
Naturally, people started plotting to vote Jason out, especially Ozzy … except Cirie, who went to talk to Alexis, Natalie, and Parvati, asking them not to discuss it with James or Erik. The only woman they didn’t pull in was Amanda, because of her ties with Ozzy. Natalie and Alexis, meanwhile, secured Jason.
Parvati had a confessional talking about her two options, and it really did come all the way down to her. James expressed some worries to Ozzy.
At Tribal Council, though, Ozzy didn’t play his idol, seemingly convinced by people harping on Jason’s attempt to buy himself another night on the island. Probst even played up the drama, reading four of Jason’s votes and one of Ozzy’s, then reading four Ozzy votes right in a row to send him to the jury, idol in hand. Over on the jury, Eliza freaked out. Amanda was doing much the same as well. In case the surprise wasn’t obvious, Probst made sure to remind everyone they’d just pulled off a blindside.
Quick notes:
- “I Promise…” refers to everyone assuring Jason they would not vote him out. Most of them kept their promise for the sake of the Ozzy vote.
- The Black Widow Brigade doesn’t get its name in this episode.
