As the seventh season of Game of Thrones approaches its end, we bored Survivor fans wondered; who would win in a season filled with their fantasy peers?
This season of Game of Thrones has come at the perfect time. There are 126 days between the end of Survivor Game Changers and the beginning of Survivor Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, and with the later start date this year, these episodes have been a godsend of distraction during this very long offseason.
Some of us at Surviving Tribal then got to thinking; if a fictional season of Survivor: Game of Thrones were to occur, who would come out on top? It’s as alluring a conversation as who will outwit, outplay and outlast each other in the quest for the Iron Throne on HBO’s program. Just before the Game of Thrones season finale next Sunday, we’ve decided to butt our heads together and figure out who from that show would win Survivor!
For this exercise, we will be basing our character studies and examples primarily from the HBO version of Game of Thrones, although one character will be based on the book to make it a bit more fun (more on that later). How far they make it in the fantasy show does not necessarily reflect their reality show abilities, neither. For now, here are the 20 characters from Game of Thrones we selected for our debate on who would win in a season of Survivor (with all comparisons accurate as of season 7, episode 6).
Missandei – 20th in Survivor: Game of Thrones
Loyal, talented, soft-spoken, poignant; Missandei of Astapor is not truly the kind of player who would thrive on Survivor. She doesn’t make too big a splash on her own, she would play up to whatever Daenerys wanted and she would be a likely vote number.
While that may seem like a character worthy of stringing along as a number, Survivor is about holding onto your cards until you need to play them. Someone could argue she has a great social game due to her status as a diplomat, which is “proof” enough to get someone out early. More importantly, since Missandei doesn’t speak out of turn, she’d be hard-pressed to make a case against others.
