Finding the perfect dancing partner, Jeff Probst wants to make things official with Fiji and keep all future Survivor seasons within the country.

One of the biggest challenges facing the production department on Survivor must be finding a suitable host country and local tourism board willing to work with an American company, both on the ground and at the administrative level, and uprooting the entire crew as they move from location to location. Jeff Probst having one country and rotating filming locations around the islands seems to be the best, most predictable bet for them.

According to him, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Fiji may be the perfect partner for Survivor to the point that he wishes he could keep the show through to its end in the country. “I hope we stay here forever,” Probst exclaims. ”

“When we started Survivor 18 years ago, there were lots of places we could go. It’s been two decades; it’s a different world. There are not as many places we can go for lots of reasons. The economy, population, political unrest, weather patterns; Fiji offers us everything that we want.”

Jeff Probst goes on to explain all the benefits of Survivor in Fiji, including the beautiful sands, gloriously clear waters, decent accommodations to pull off a competition game show in the jungles, a galvanized crew and a local government more than willing to happily work with the show to make things work.

More from Jeff Probst

While I understand that having one central country to base all future episodes of Survivor makes it easier for the production crew, my biggest fear, as a huge fan of the show, is just how familiar these islands will become. Survivor Millennials vs. Gen X and Game Changers were both set in Fiji, and Zeke Smith’s fake hidden idol in the first season was almost found in the second season.

With Survivor Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers debuting on September 27, it will mark the third season in a row with Fiji as a backdrop. With Ghost Island to follow in Spring 2018 and, allegedly, the Mana Island Resort booked up for next year’s seasons 37 and 38 filming window, Jeff Probst may already have his wish.

Perhaps the show will truly end in Fiji after all.
