Two new previews have been released for Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, one for all of season 35 and the other for episode 1.

To play Survivor at all takes some level of self-confidence. Even if a castaway says their motivation is to get out of their comfort zone and push themselves, some sort of confidence is required to put yourself into this particular situation to push yourself. As it pertains to Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, though, it shouldn’t come as a shock that most everyone appears to be brimming with confidence.

Just by the construct of the tribes in season 35, these are men and women that you would have to assume are innately filled with self-belief. To qualify as a “Hero”, you’d have to believe that you can be courageous or brave. For a “Healer”, a confidence that you can make a difference in others is required. Then for a “Hustler”, it’s rare to find someone who works hard who doesn’t take pride in themselves and their work.

And from the first official preview of episode 1, aptly titled “I’m Not Crazy, I’m Confident”, it’s quite clear that none of the three tribes are lacking in confidence:

Clearly that’s how 99-of-100 players of this game are going to talk at the beginning. But when the social game and underhanded moves start to kick in while you’re also hungry, hot and likely somewhat miserable, that can change things.

And it’s how the players adapt and react to that change that ultimately determines how far they go in the game of Survivor. It’s that construct that Jeff Probst highlights in his season overview preview that was also released with the episode 1 promo:

One of the best things about having a cast of new players is that viewers and fans truly don’t know what to expect from the season. Players can talk a big game before they’re out in Fiji in the thick of things and say all of the right adages, but none of that gets anyone closer to winning $1 million.

So while all 18 players and three tribes would appear pretty confident from what we see in these new previews for Survivor season 35, it really all still a mystery until the game begins with Day 1 and the marooning.

Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers will premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 8:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
