A showmance blossoms, a partnership falters and the Heroes start to pick sides ahead of Survivor season 35 episode 2, “I’m a Wild Banshee.”

Welcome, one and all, to our Survivor season 35 episode 2 preview for Heroes vs. Healers vs. Huslters! Ahead of the episode each week, we will be providing you with a preview of what to expect, what to look out for and what should be interesting about our favorite reality competition series. Can’t keep up to date every single day? We’ve got a primer for you here every week!

“I’m a Wild Banshee” airs tonight at 8 p.m. ET, so let’s get you primed and ready for what’s in store.

A swimming/puzzle Immunity/Reward challenge

With the Heroes down a player, Lauren Rimmer and Joe Mena are sitting out in the Survivor season 35 episode 2 Immunity/Reward Challenge. Players will unhook puzzle pieces tied down under a submerged cage, then they must drag and push them out of the cage so they can float to the top of the water. Once all bundles are collected in a net, all swimming players must pass the puzzle pieces to the puzzle-solvers, placing certain past seasons in a specific order.

It’s weird to see lifeguard Ashley Nolan struggle on a swimming-related challenge, although she usually isn’t deprived of food for a week when she does her real job.

Showmantic

Despite zero confessionals in the premiere and no semblance of strategy so far, the second episode of Survivor season 35 sets up a showmance between Cole Medders and Jessica Johnston. Both of them seem to be into each other, as indicated by their teased talking points, but the lack of any solid indication that they’re going to commit.

While this will certainly be a storyline that captures the audience’s attention this week, it’s possible that they could hold off against diving into a deeper relationship if a million dollars is more valuable to them. Boston Rob and Amber have proven that a showmance in power is a dangerous thing.

Clues across the island

The Survivor season 35 episode 2 preview shows even more storylines converging. In addition to the showmance, we see Alan and JP fist-bumping after their Tribal Council clash, Joe searching for the idol after finding a clue, Chrissy Hofbeck and Ben Driebergen potentially teaming up and Ryan Ulrich describing something with “a lot of uncertainty” that is “scary.”

It’s possible that the Hustlers are going to Tribal Council, as those are two definite descriptors for someone possibly heading home in 17th place. Meanwhile, I’m wondering just how Chrissy is going to team up with Ben when the focus is on JP+Ashley and Alan at this time.

We’ll know for sure tonight when Survivor season 35 episode 2, “I’m a Wild Banshee,” airs on CBS at 8 p.m. ET.
