The game is about to change in a major way in Survivor season 35 episode 4, as the big “drop your buffs” moment brings chaos into a chaotic game.

Close to a quarter way through the game of Survivor, the Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers season is about to be shaken up. The upcoming episode, “I Don’t Like Having Snakes Around,” has been centered around the players swapping tribes, getting uncomfortable and working as a team with relative strangers quickly.

Just how quickly? Well, the Survivor Twitter account has posted a sneak peek at the upcoming episode’s momentous swap, showing the teams forming right at a Reward Challenge on Day 9. Just a day after the Hustlers rallied around reliability and talked about sneaking into other tribes’ dynamics and overcoming, now we get to see that happen in practice.

First things first, as we can see in this sneak peek, the season 35 players are shocked to see Patrick Bolton get voted out at the last Tribal Council. Even though he was cocky, overbearing and generally unreliable to his tribemates (hence why he was voted out), the other tribes couldn’t possibly have seen that extent during challenges.

There’s something really odd about the placement of this swap. For example, there has never been a season where three starting tribes swap into three more tribes, yet there is placement here and at the Immunity Challenge (according to the press pictures) for three separate tribes. If it were to break down into 5-5-5 split, the first tribe at Tribal Council will be at a supreme disadvantage.

Regardless of how things shake up (we could even have a temporary “Exile” tribe happen), one thing that may have been cleared up is where Jessica will play going forward. She was shown wearing the Soko buff in a confessional in last week’s “next time on Survivor” preview, and in this sneak peek they cut away from the reveal before it airs. Since she didn’t have that confessional at this point, she has to be on her same tribe at the swap.
