Many great players and characters have made their way through Survivor over the years, with some of them reflecting on their most memorable experiences.

While Survivor season 35, Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, is starting to get very good after its tribe swap, the show is built up on the heroes, villains and comic characters that have shaped the most remarkable stories and gameplay moves we’ve ever seen. Even when filming and airing twice in a year, not that many shows make it to their 35th season, let alone feature more than 500 different people.

Of those 500+, Dalton Ross spoke with a few of the most prominent and memorable for Entertainment Weekly, asking them to reflect back on some of their fond memories. Some of them are expected (Kelley Wentworth on her Hidden Immunity idol play, etc.), but there are also a few key tidbits about the show’s production that fans may not have heard about before.

For example, Survivor Africa winner Ethan Zohn remembers after playing the “Pot Shots” challenge on Day 33 and failing, he challenged Jeff Probst to try to do better, in which he bent down to pick up a rock and threw it at a slim tree 60 yards away and nailed it. That was back when Jeff was in his stoic cool guy phase early on.

Three-time player Malcolm Freberg reflects on the once-in-a-lifetime experience going in a helicopter ride to a private yacht to go whale shark diving, a sentence that is quite remarkable on its own. Survivor Micronesia winner Parvati Shallow reflected on a few memories, including seeing Billy Garcia confess his love to Candice and a rat running across her chest.

There’s quite a good collection of memories from Survivor players of the past, including Stephen Fishbach, Gervase Peterson, John Carroll, Andrea Boehlke, Coach Wade, Aubry Bracco, Whitney Duncan, Courtney Yates, Survivor winners Adam Klein, Sophie Clarke, Sandra Diaz-Twine and more.
