Survivor players have some amazing costumes for Halloween 2017

While kids go out and play trick or treat in neighborhoods across the world today, Survivor players had fun this weekend dressing up for Halloween.

When you play the game of Survivor, more often than not you’re playing up the most TV-friendly version of you. Your “villainy” is a little bit more villainous; your heroism a little bit more heroic; your comically downtrodden is a bit more comedic. That’s why Survivor players are the best bunch of people you could hope to dress up for Halloween, as so much of their character shines through in their costumes.

For example, even when putting on a fake blonde wig, Russell Hantz will always give you 110% Russell Hantz down to his iconic glower.

People aren’t afraid to get too political about their Halloween costumes in 2017, let alone reality television players like Survivor Vanuatu and Micronesia‘s Eliza Orlins.

Three-time player Andrea Boehlke may have skipped a step too forward with her costume, as she looks closer to a Christmas reindeer.

Gone, but not forgotten. Teresa “T-Bird” Cooper dressed up alongside a fairly accurate representation of Hugh Hefner.

Even OG Survivor players can get in on the action. Jenna Lewis-Dougherty likes to keep things fresh with her Halloween costume and offers up her 2016 and 2017 looks in one tweet.

Who says that Marvel movie and film properties are for the kids? Two-time player Gervase Peterson is out there rocking off-brand Marvel hero Larry Cage (the “brother” of Luke Cage).

Rare is the Survivor player that played twice after going on Big Brother once, but Caleb Reynolds is out there going with the couples Tarzan and … cowgirl … look.

The newer seasons’ players are fairly keen on dressing up, especially the Millennials by both season format and age. Here’s Ali Elliott dressing up as Queen Bey.

Hannah Shapiro relived one of her childhood Halloween costumes several years later.

When not cursing Brad Culpepper’s name in Survivor Blood vs. Water, Marissa Peterson got to meet more reality stars during her Halloween weekend.

This isn’t to say that it’s only the under-30s players that are keeping the Survivor Halloween 2017 spirit alive, as some of the best costumes came from players from less contemporary seasons. Sugar from Gabon and Heroes vs. Villains sure as hell rocked her costume from The Handmaid’s Tale.

It is as risque as Tim Curry’s representation decades ago, but Survivor Palau’s Coby Archa rocked the Rocky Horror Picture Show emphatically.

Classic horror films are go-to ideas for players that were around to see them, and Jessica Lewis’ Carrie from the book and movie of the same name is definitely a big commitment to the costume.

At the same time, younger players do sometimes go with Halloween costumes that come from an era before their time, including San Juan del Sur runner-up Jaclyn Misch.

The most adorable from the collection has to be the Mariano family, as Boston Rob and Amber kept things a little low-key as to not outshine their four children.

The lowest-effort Halloween 2017 costume (at least for Survivor players) might, unfortunately, have to be Abi-Maria with the standard cat ears and eye-liner-on-face whiskers + nose combo.

From a pure dedication standpoint, it probably took a long time for Survivor Redemption Island player Stephanie Valencia to nail down the Pennywise makeup, which deserves a big mention.

However, from a creative, effort and coordination standpoint, Corinne Kaplan from Survivors Gabon and Caramoan is my favorite, going with a now-classic Clueless look.

The best team effort is a no-doubter for the Survivor Worlds Apart dynamic duo of Joe Anglim and Sierra Dawn Thomas. Find you a friend that’s willing to dress up in matching weird onesie costumes!
