Survivor season 35’s first double-length episode airs November 29
There isn’t enough time before Christmas for Survivor season 35 to lose a castaway every week, so they’re doubling up on November 29.
This season of Survivor is unlike many in the show’s history. From the very beginning right through to the merge, viewers have been subject only to one-hour episodes all season long. The only other time this has happened in recent memory was during One World, where the first feature-length episode was at the finale, right when there were but a few castaways remaining.
Thankfully, that won’t be the case for Survivor season 35, Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers. As noted on the CBS Entertainment press website, on Wednesday, November 29, Survivor will be airing two episodes back-to-back. It isn’t billed as a double-length episode, and there are too many players left in the game at this stage, so barring any medevacs, we are likely getting two separate boots over two hours.
This runs counter to the double-elimination episode of Millennials vs. Gen X, which saw Will Wahl and Sunday Burquest leave the game in the span of a one-hour episode. Despite the overall excellence that the pre-merge was over the first half of that game, the rushed effort to bring two characters’ stories to a close in one hour was sloppy at best and disappointing at worst.
Despite just a one-hour premiere and some questionable edits surrounding the first two boots and Roark, Survivor season 35, Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, has been keeping things pretty consistent with its edit. We’re in a place where it’s unclear who among several candidates is going to win the game when at this point in time for Game Changers, it was pretty clear either Brad Culpepper or Sarah Lacina would win.

Hopefully, this two-hour Survivor time slot allows viewers to better understand why whoever goes home is voted out while flushing out their stories. Sunday Burquest is an interesting lady, and the fact the Reddit community had to ask her questions in order to get a better picture of her story continues to be a frustrating disappointment.
