As we close out 2017, the Survivor offseason is alive and well as one fan takes a look at every season of the show through the lens of SpongeBob SquarePants.

One of the best parts of the Survivor offseason is how diehard fans of the show keep themselves entertained while still circling around their favorite medium. Whether it’s looking back at past seasons and imparting new wisdom to them or just looking for the silliest allusions possible, the creativity of the fans never ceases to amaze me.

Earlier today, “Survivor Expert” on YouTube uploaded a short video showcasing clips of children’s show SpongeBob SquarePants creating parallels to moments or ideas from all 36 seasons of Survivor. That’s right, even the upcoming Survivor Ghost Island gets a shoutout in this video, as SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, Squidward Tentacles, Mr. Krabs and the rest of the gang making passing references to our favorite reality competition.

Some of the references are straightforward, while others may be a bit more vague, depending on your recollection of past seasons. For example, most should know that SpongeBob’s pineapple house asking why he was set on fire is in reference to Australia‘s moment where an eventual two-time player fell in the fire at camp. The Palau reference sees Squidward basking in the fact he is now alone, in reference to the Ulong tribe whittling down to just Stephenie LaGrossa.

Others require a bit more thinking to understand. Plankton making crass remarks at everyone he sees refers to China’s Courtney Yates, who spent most of her (frankly, limited) confessional time making harsh judgments on her fellow castaways. Survivor Philippines’ brief inclusion just shows SpongeBob saying “I want cookies,” referring to Angie’s wish to make things better for her tribe (instead of, you know, winning challenges).

Look, there’s roughly one more month before we get official Ghost Island news from CBS, so we might as well get the chance to reflect upon past seasons while there’s still time!
