Even though people will vividly remember Caleb’s Survivor Kaoh Rong medevac, Peter Baggenstos’ details on being flown back to the States are grim.

Until a player is removed from the game because of them, people don’t often think about the risk of infections in Survivor. Sure, the medical team will bandage you up if needed, but for the most part, it’s hard to ignore the bug bites of the local climate. Neal had to be taken out of the game as the first member of the jury to clear himself up, but it was a bit more serious for Peter Baggenstos.

The last player eliminated before the Survivor Kaoh Rong jury phase, Peter opened up about his gameplay experiences in a Reddit AMA yesterday, including talking about his brief pre-jury trip. Usually, players who don’t make the jury head out on a trip for a few weeks in order to avoid arriving home too early before Day 39, as that would give away that they were voted out early.

However, Peter had a different experience, including heading back home early for surgery to remove an infection on his hand and abscesses on his back and arms. While Neal was back and ready to sit on the jury by the next Tribal Council, getting flown stateside to patch up shows a level of severity that we didn’t get to see on television.

Of course, Survivor fans asked a lot more about him, considering how far he got in the game, answering who he would have voted for (Aubry or Michele) with a modest answer. Furthermore, he stepped up to the plate and batted for Debbie, who he believes calling her crazy is dismissive of her eccentricities. That said, being a doctor means he hasn’t kept in touch with many of his fellow players, as he’s gotten married and worked nights for a while.

That said, Peter Baggenstos would be perfect for a second chance, and he’s allegedly come very close during Game Changers, even if he offers no comment on the matter! Who knows how the Obama comparisons would play up in 2018 and beyond.
