Survivor history: Determining the six eras of gameplay

The Revival Era (Seasons 25-30)
The down spin of Survivor could have seen the show come to a close. Luckily, Survivor: Philippines had other plans. Ironically, the returning captains, which plagued the dark ages, were a major factor in the season’s success. The Survivor we know and love was back.
These twists were not as frequent in the revival era; the twists that were implemented seemed to work. Redemption Island made Blood vs. Water work. The emotion of your loved one battling for their life was well worth the price of admission for the viewer.
The Blood vs. Water twist on its own produced a new dynamic. This twist was utilized twice, effective, ran its course and was not overdone.
Cagayan created a huge splash, with twists and turns from start to finish. It is up there with Heroes vs. Villains for season rank. The super-idol only increased the awe of Tony’s “bag of tricks.” And perhaps the most notorious winner, who was deemed “The Russell Hantz with a social game.”
Caramoan and Worlds Apart are not well-received by the fanbase. However, there was still exciting gameplay amid an inconsistent edit. The two seasons are nowhere near Dark Ages level. These are just seasons that were not particularly good. Not every season is a home run.
The extra vote was a major revelation. Worlds Apart opened the floodgates for a new realm of advantages. The transition into a new era was in motion. As a result, a new part of the game was now unpredictable.
