Lou Diamond Phillips

One of the most renowned “That Guy’s” of Hollywood, Lou Diamond Phillips is no stranger to competing among celebrities on an island. He happened to win the second season of the US version of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, besting Torrie Wilson over 24 days of little food, little water and no luxuries on the way to becoming King of the Jungle.

Although he would enter the competition at age 56 or older this time around, there’s no doubting the physicality of LDP. His recent roles, including the longstanding role of Henry Standing Bear in Longmire (an underrated show available on Netflix), often have him active and moving about in dramatic or action scenes, and he’s still built stronger than some of his younger fellow competitors.

He has had a bit of a rough private life, including repeated arrests. If he were to be targetted on the show, I believe those facets of his life could be used as ammunition for an elimination similar (but not nearly as serious or damning) as Natalie Anderson was in her pointed comments against John Rocker in San Juan del Sur. He’s still certainly an interesting character that would bring a different, sage perspective to an island journey.
