Survivor Ghost Island premiere photos show players in their element
Some early press photos for the Survivor Ghost Island premiere have been released, highlighting the players hanging out, challenges and more.
Even though we are 19 days away from the Survivor Ghost Island premiere, the excitement among fans is palpable. The opportunities are endless when you bring 20 players together to compete with one another on an island filled with bugs, egos, challenges and advantages. CBS knows that the fans want every morsel of information possible, and there’s no better way to play Sherlock than to look at pictures of island activities.
CBS released the Survivor Ghost Island premiere photos earlier today, allowing us to take a look at the intricacies of players’ early personalities, habits and who’s talking to who to glean opinions or thoughts about what will happen in the premiere episode. Remember, CBS won’t show any photos after the first Immunity Challenge in progress, as the rest of the photos can reveal spoilers based on their EXIF data.
Here we can see the two Survivor Ghost Island tribes, Naviti (purple) and Malolo (orange), arriving on the beach and heading to their starting mats in order to get their first instructions. Almost all of the castaways can be seen in this shot, but it looks like Donathan Hurley is the most excited to get started, almost running to the mat.
Most of the early shots from the Malolo camp are portraits of the players individually, but this shot shows off Brendan Shapiro, Laurel Johnson and James Lim gathering wood. It’s possible that the three are working towards some sort of alliance, as Laurel and James are seen in another premiere press photo. At the very least, they don’t look to be gunning for each other early.
Whereas Malolo looks to be working quickly to get their shelter ready, the majority of Naviti seems to be getting to know each other first. Morgan Ricke, Angela Perkins, Sebastian Noel, Bradley Kleihege, Chelsea Townsend, Kellyn Bechtold, Desiree Afuye, and Domenick Abbate are seen here, while Wendell Holland and Chris Noble are nowhere to be seen.
Early alliances are important for making it to the first tribe swap (and possibly into the merge), so Chelsea Townsend and Desiree Afuye getting some time together away from the others may indicate their willingness to start an alliance as co-leaders or offer us a look at who’s on the outside looking in.

Here’s our look at the likely reward/immunity challenge that will test the might of both tribes. It looks like players will need to prop players high enough to gather bags with either puzzle or obstacle course pieces, throw them into a cart they’ll need to drag together as a team, then solve a huge 3D puzzle at the end.

It seems like only parts of the challenge can be seen, but perhaps Naviti is out to a slight early lead? They’re certainly not behind, as this shot of Sebastian Noel and Angela Perkins leading the pulling section shows the puzzle pieces of Malolo still in their original position and no opposing players in sight.

This is the only other real shot of Survivor Ghost Island Malolo players doing anything interesting outside the context of building a shelter, as Jenna Bowman, Stephanie Johnson and Donathan looking on towards and unseen individual. I believe it’s Michael Yerger, as another press photo shows Brendan and James’ underwear band with a different pattern. Jacob just doesn’t have that forearm definition.
