Survivor Ghost Island: Stephanie Gonzalez is ready to test the waters
By Jacob Rausch
Stephanie Gonzalez is looking to use her hard work, determination, and strategic prowess to take her fellow castaways by surprise.
Stephanie Gonzalez is a 26-year-old who was born in Puerto Rico. She would eventually move to Ocala, Florida, where she currently resides and works in Graphic Sales. She is commonly being referenced as “Gonzalez” for Survivor purposes.
Her transition to mainland United States was not particularly easy at first. It was difficult for her to learn English, which meant she was very hesitant to speak the language in public. She has strong views on any bullying due to her past experiences with it. On the island, this could see her step in and try to diffuse any conflicts between tribemates. This has its pros and cons, because sometimes in Survivor it is best not to say anything.
The workload of attending any schooling after high school is usually very challenging on its own. When Gonzalez was in school, she had to work three jobs to pay for it and endured hours of internships. She earned a promotion when she worked in surgery after just one year, and this came while she had to care for the horses to pay for rent.

Gonzalez has proven that there really are no excuses when you are trying to achieve something. In addition to her mother being her role model, her mother was told that she should have an abortion while pregnant with Gonzalez due to health issues. You commonly hear the phrase thrown around that “I couldn’t be here without you”; her mother brings new meaning to this standard saying.
There is much more than what meets the eye with Stephanie Gonzalez. In her interview, she talked quite the game when it comes to what she can bring to camp life. She specifically highlighted her ability to fish. With all her talk about how she loves being active, you will not be seeing her portrayed as lazy by any means. Based on the components of her Malolo tribe, there is a real possibility for her to be a primary provider.

Her Survivor past contestant comparisons were a breath of fresh air. Younger women always seem to compare themselves to Parvati, or if they are more recent fans, they say Kelley Wentworth. Fortunately, her comparisons were to Kelly Wiglesworth and Brenda Lowe. These rare comparisons would only come from someone who is a hardcore fan. She even compared herself to Tony! I do not know how many women would say this, but this is very exciting. She has come across as extremely kind and compassionate. However, the Tony comparison means there is a cutthroat side that is going to come out.
She appears to be a hardcore fan, but does not seem to be a “super-duper fan.” This could be the perfect mix because she will have the knowledge necessary to navigate all of the possible twists and turns that Ghost Island could bring. However, she gives off the vibe that she just really wants to win, meaning that she will not be playing it too safe at the beginning. 19th place will be a similar feeling as the 4th place to her, whereas the next level of superfans may be happy to come in 7th if they get the experience.

When it comes to her chances in the game, she could get sent packing early, but I feel like this actually is not a bad thing. Players that we expect to get to the merge for sure are big threats that have very small probabilities to win it all. Gonzalez does not come across as threatening, and making it to the merge could allow her to slide by. If she hits the merge, she is going deep for sure, and not as a goat. Her strategy could see her ride the waves all the way to the end.
