If for whatever reason, Survivor Ghost Island’s Jeff Probst were to suffer an injury during filming, production does have backup plans.

As fans of Survivor, the hypothetical questions are always fun to get answers for. For example, within the past year, we got to see what would happen if two players at the final Tribal Council tie in Jury votes; the third-place player would go off and pick that season’s Sole Survivor. Now, another hypothetical question we hadn’t really thought of has just been answered; does production have a plan in case Jeff Probst suffers an injury?

Surprisingly, as indicated in an ET Canada Interview, there is a plan put in place just in case something awful happens to our intrepid host and producer extraordinaire. Although it hasn’t needed to happen over 35 seasons of the show that we’ve seen, Jeff Probst insists that “we have a plan that is written up; everybody has a copy of it. If I get sick – say something really bad happened, and I’m incapacitated, everybody knows what to do.

“The game goes on, for sure, and it would suck for me (because I’d be injured), but in terms of the game, I think it would be very interesting to watch our plan plays out. I think it would be fine.”

Unfortunately, Jeff Probst was not keen at all to share what that plan is, leaving all of us at home to speculate. It does play into the idea that Survivor, as a show, can go on without Jeff Probst as host, which was also talked about in the video.

Obviously, you can’t call former players in quickly enough to become a replacement host, as even the quickest flight from LA to Fiji would take 12 hours from a cold call. Members of the press are only around for the first few days of the season before leaving the players to their own devices, so Dalton Ross or Erin Cebula can’t be called in at the last second. Andrea Boehlke has to host People-related content throughout the week, so she can’t sub in, either.

Just like with Game Changers’ revelation, I doubt Jeff is hinting that we will find out the process for ourselves sometime during Survivor Ghost Island. It’s just good to know CBS has something up their sleeve if push comes to shove!
