Have you heard about Survivor Ghost Island’s Chris Noble? If not, you certainly must not have met him, as he seems to think very mightily of himself.

Models are the real world cashiers of the Survivor world. They are plentiful, they have a greater chance of being underestimated and they have tough challenges ahead of them. Unlike models, however, cashiers don’t have survivorship bias (pun not intended), which makes players like Survivor Ghost Island’s Chris Noble an intriguing castaway.

First off, just because he has a statuesque figure and works as a model doesn’t mean he’s guaranteed to be a straightforward purple edit player. The man can talk your ear off if push came to shove, and when it comes to the topic of Chris Noble (as indicated in his CBS bio), the man can really put pen to paper!

I’ve counted over 940 words written up by Chris in his own bio, which is far and away the most of the season. It’s clear he thinks highly of himself, and considering the heights of his immediate success in modeling as to get a 5th Avenue billboard of himself, he carries himself with the confidence of a two-time winner.

His self-aggrandizing has not gone unnoticed in the pre-game Ponderosa, as his fellow castaways have collectively agreed that he is the most negatively-viewed castaway of Survivor Ghost Island, based on first, unspoken impressions. “He’s just the jock who loved himself.” “I don’t think he’s going to be known for his smarts.” “…Everybody looks at him like, ‘Oh, God, get away from me.'” I cannot recall someone being judged so harshly before the game even begins.

In a season where players are going to have half the normal amount of rice to start the season, strength is going to be an even bigger factor than ever for Survivor Ghost Island’s starting tribes. He will not go the way of Jonathan Libby from Palau and get voted out before the game really begins, but it will mean his challenge strength will likely be his early saving grace.

Something you absolutely don’t want to hear is Jeff Probst wonder if you’re going to be the first one out of the season. He remarked, “I can’t tell if Chris is really good socially or really bad socially.” Considering he didn’t have the same feedback of the cast that Josh Wigler got for The Hollywood Reporter, we kind of got our answer on that one!

If anything will ground Chris Noble in Survivor, it is his mother. She has multiple sclerosis, and she’s his inspiration for playing this season. It’s clear that telling her story and creating more awareness of the debilitating disease are his motivators, and he won’t take this opportunity lightly. He knows he can’t beast his way through to the end and will need to make his social charm part of his winning strategy.

His problem is that the one thing that would redeem his persona to his tribe (his ailing mother) is the equivalent of Survivor kryptonite; a compelling story you can share at the final Tribal Council. He sees himself quite like a Ken McKnickle and will most likely play an honest, loyal game (due to his pet peeves of lazy, lying people), but being a good guy and not making smart moves is an excellent strategy to get yourself into third place in the modern game. At worst, if he shows game awareness yet people know about his mother’s condition, others can argue his story is too good in pushing for his elimination.

The only way I see Chris Noble making it to the merge is if he never goes to Tribal Council until it becomes mandatory for him. Otherwise, once the tribes switch things up, even if the OG tribe numbers are in his favor, he could still rub people wrong enough to take him out early. Whenever he gets voted out (still an “if” situation), I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a major blindside.
